History: Mermaid Comedy Hour was created in November 2015 when a comedy festival in Texas received a lot of backlash for only having four women on a 50-plus lineup of comedians. Their excuse? "There just wasn't enough women that applied." We decided to call out them out by starting a monthly all-female/female-identifying show, showcasing a diverse lineup every month without repeating a single comic for the entire first year; over 75 amazingly talented women performed. Now, hundreds of women later, the show's following continues to grow. Our home base is the Hollywood Improv, but we love hitting the road to produce the show in cities like Portland, Atlanta, Phoenix, Nashville, and more to come!
