History: What began as a clapback to a festival that claimed there “weren’t enough female comics” has become a cornerstone of the LA comedy scene. In our first year alone, Mermaid Comedy Hour booked 75 different women without repeating a single act, and the momentum never stopped. The show has since become a launchpad for up-and-coming comics, and a go-to hang for audiences (and even fellow comedians!) who crave bold voices, sharp jokes, and the best vibes in town.
From pop-up shows in Atlanta, Portland, and Phoenix, to special fundraiser nights supporting causes like reproductive rights, wildfire relief, and immigration rights, Mermaid Comedy Hour has proven that comedy can be both hilarious and impactful. And at a time when free speech and creative expression face mounting challenges, the show’s mission is more vital than ever: creating space, building community, and making history, all while delivering the laughs.
